Humiliation (after april 12 1961) took americans to the Moon.

Astronauts say : better dead than look bad.

They fear making a mistake more than death.

That's also why there are terrorists ready to explode themselves.
Their reasoning is direct: I live in humiliation but if I die with a bomb, I'll frighten and hurt those who humiliate me and I'll be recognized by my own kind. Better dead with recognition than alive in humiliation.

This is why the conflict in the Middle-East will either remain that way or both sides will have to talk. That means talking to those we consider terrorists today.
Perhaps we'd have to wait until others come to power; that way
the new ones won't have to bear the humiliation as they are not responsible for it.
