What's the problem?
Seems to me there are 8 planets everyone can agree on.
There is one transition object, Pluto, which has been called a planet and would continue to be a planet.
It would have the adjective "dwarf". Which is true and accurate and descriptive.
And then there are lots of Kuiper objects. Which aren't planets in the sense the first 8 are.
Maybe have Pluto designated "Planet Emeritus", sort of no longer a planet, but was once, and still has some of the status.
