I just think they should still be counted as planets because the dividing line between dwarf planet and terrestrial planet would be less clear than between planetisimal (typical asteroid, comet,and/or kbo) and dwarf planet.
I understand.
If Pluto is dubbed and 'registered' as a dwarf planet, so be it. It does have the catacteristics of a planet (mho) in that it is round, large enough and FAR enough to have escaped Neptune's grasp. Whatever it's outcome, so be it and there it is. When New Horizon's comes by in 2015, the answers to many may be clearer.
I don't think the asteroid belt is done expelling matter and neither has the Kuiper and Oort Cloud. That should be part of the debate and I agree with Mr. Brown in that Sedna seems to be part of the Oort Cloud and everything that comes from it should be classified as such. (As should the KBO's be.) Absolutely, it should all be addressed.
Anyways. Thank you, Mark for e-mailing Mr. Brown.
Best.
