The examples I gave in that paragraph are known, historical occurrences under Saddam, despite the constant leftist attempts to whitewash his regime the same way they spent years whitewashing communism and are trying to whitewash Iran even as I write this. Do you even realize how much crap Bush's opposition gets away with in this country while complaining about their "oppression?" There are things routinely said and done that could have someone busted in countries as liberal as England or France.

I've mostly backed out of the Flame Board, and at some point I'll have the guts to back out of Current Events. too. With very few exceptions, there is not a lot of rational opposition here any more. Documentation, logic, facts, and other things that would normally lend strength to an argument mean nothing. As an example, I could show graphs of the historical poverty rate to refute your scenario, or the documentation on the NSA programs, but what good would it do me, other than to waste a half hour of my time?

You are, unfortunately, looking like you're going to end up pretty much in the same boat with Lindy, Bowser, Eric, and the others. And religious arguments are largely a waste of time.
