This makes no sense. If I were a right wing fascist and wanted to create a provocation to justify war and conquest, I would not have picked an asset as dear to my greedy little heart as the WTC, filled with businessmen and so tied up in commerce and finance, as a target. I would have selected something of little intrinsic worth, but of great symbolic value which would have led to great loss of life. The Statue of Liberty or Yankee Stadium during a day game would make much more sense.

The terrorists struck at what they saw as the heart of the beast, financial America. If financial America masterminded this they wouldn't have attacked themselves.
