Drop the pretense that we are having local elections, the Bush Whitehouse is making elections this year into a referendum to drum up support for following him and his neocon followers and advisors into that non-congressionally declared, but oft touted "World War III," a virtually endless conflict against Islamic-fascists.

Yesterday Bush made a speech that made it clear that Americans should be prepared to sacrifice some of their most precious liberties, including the right to dissent. He was talking to military officers, but preaching from his bully pulpit. The Rove stategy is for the US to stay in Iraq until the Democrats take office and let them worry about bringing the troops home. If the aftermath is the anticipated civil war and division of Iraq into three or more balkanized states, this could be used as a Republican springboard to lay the blame on the Democrats and allow the Republicans to slither back into a position of control.

If you are a good God fearing neo con Christian, World War III against those Islamo-fascists is obviously the path to righteousness. Of course, if you are a sentient human being that course is insanity and unthinkable.
