Okay, maybe not ALL rays of ejecta are in 360 degrees, but the major ones generally seem to eject in all direction. I mean, can't an asteroid be travelling almost parallel to the motion of a planet but in the opposite direction, and create a big ol' long ditch with ejecta off to one side? along the diretion of movement. Why do almost all "craters" appear to be almost exactly circular as if hit directly head on? That just seems bizarre to me. I mean, can someone point out some craters that are big ditches indicating that an asteroid went horizontally rather than at a right angle? Just want to make sure I'm not losing my mind...
But no crater chaining IE overlapping craters rather than one big long ditch. I mean there have to be at least a few craters that are from horizontal impacts that don't show "breaking up", right?
Just wondering. :)
