Penguin in orbit!

I tuned in to MSNBC five minutes before launch, just in time to hear JimO describe the Shuttle as a penguin: "black and white and can't get off the ground". I'm happy to say Jim was wrong, at least this time, that was a beautiful launch with no sign of anomalies. Cool!

Hey Jim, I couldn't miss the anchor basically telling Barbree to shut up--"hold your breath"--as liftoff approached. You could pass on to management that her instincts were correct, I didn't want to hear some babbled "color" commentary. I wanted to hear Mission Control in the final few seconds, with technical commentary from you as appropriate. The launch belongs to Mission Control, not the network; if they want drama, nothing's more dramatic than that voice, and attempts at "color" at the moment of launch only distract. There's plenty of time before and after, but at launch we just wanna watch. OK?

Nice to see ya got a lot of face time, Jim. Conrats.
