No, "buttmonkey" is different.
Refers to someone who slavishly supports a given faction, party, or person. I haven't used it in a while, but I usually used it in the context of a mainstream media that would not do one thing different if the Democratic Party were actually paying them millions of dollars for what they wrote or presented.
Now I think it's more about being virulently anti-Bush than pro-Democrat, so I'm not sure the term works that well any more.
