5 years and the insurgency is growing. Whose butts?

In Vietnam, another guerilla war wherein the US got it's ass kicked and kicked hard, which was fought for no good reason, the orders were that every dead Vietnamese was a dead Viet Cong.

Men, women, children, women with children, old men, anyone.

In Afghanistan they are keeping their body counts with binoculars, guessing, and assuming what might have been in a cave whose entrance they closed.

"According to NATO, the offensive has already resulted in the deaths of around 200 Taliban fighters and the arrest of another 80. However, a spokesperson for the Afghan Defense Ministry, Gen. Zahir Azimi, told the BBC that only 89 militants had died."

It's just bullshit. If after 5 years of fighting the US, the mightiest military power in the world, the insurgents are gaining territory, if after 5 years that country isn't under control, it ain't gonna be.

They don't have the bodies, the counts are always disputed, and NATO admits they are guesses.

The Afghani affair is all over except for the dying. Neither NATO nor the US is going after hearts and minds, and cannot prevail without those.
