It's solar radiation that creates the peroxides and it's not water that is being converted.

What is your point?

I'm not a chemist so I'm not sure radiation would normally produce peroxides from water.

I read your conversation with Mark below and got to say a couple things. First, you show a lack of understanding of statistic (not surprising considering your views on the dangers of impact of various NEOs). Second, all arguments of the possible damage by the yet unknown hazard of cosmic rays against Mars are double for the Moon.

As Mark rightly pointed out our atmosphere protects us from most cosmic radiation not the magnetosphere.
