What did you expect from them? You've posed a question they can't deny, or answer honestly. They have to ignore realities such as the one you've mentioned in order to keep Believing.
I've learned they are True Believers, not Rational Thinkers. Incapable of applying the lessons of the past to their policies, they instead keep peddling the same old platitudes and are rewarded by the "masses" who prefer to, you guessed it, believe.
You won't get an answer. Not a logical one, anyway.
