in the simplicity and security that life under a fascist dictatorship can offer, whether it's communist, right wing military regime, or Islamist. They all severely restrict rights and liberties in the name of protecting the people from supposedly contaminating or threatening influences, including those of scantily clad females. Life in a dictatorship can be grim, but it's also simple, in a sense, and that's attractive to some, whom I would describe as the morally or intellectually lazy. I recall one elderly (former East) German remembering with a bit of nostalgia the old communist regime, "We never had to think about anything! They always told us what to do!".
There's much less need to constantly worry about making the right moral choices in difficult situations when numerous restrictions and rigid social rules don't allow you to place yourself in those situations. For instance, it's a lot harder for Saudi or Iranian teenage boys and girls to get alone together, and in trouble together, than American or European youths. Not impossible, just a lot more difficult.
Freedom certainly comes with a higher level of personal responsibility, in making the wiser choice, and in living with the consequences of one's decisions.
The bottom line however is that freedom is better than fascism, and we need more of it not less. No one has the right to restrict freedom simply because they believe they or others can't "handle" freedom.

There are certainly those who take comfort...
