Does the name "Harold Covington" (aka "Winston Smith") ring a bell?

He was one of the first American neo-Nazis on the web. According to the ADL, he's been accused of being both a Jew and an agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms by rivals, which is not the same thing as actually being of Jewish background, but it may still be who you're thinking of.

Besides being a notable neoNazi, Covington is also the author of gothic fantasy adventure novels. The Southern Poverty Law Center's website has published a review of his literary oeuvre, which, although outside their normal range of commentary, is quite funny. The Nizkor Project also includes a page on Mr. Covington at its website.
