congrats on the CAD Monkey satus again. Are you still doing Fire Suppression?
REVIT is the whole meal deal. I've never used it, but it looks impressive. I don't know how it applies to your current work, but Revit is more 3d BIM than it is CAD. Be sure they aren't forcing you in to something more complex than you actually need to do your work. Other than that it looks like fun software. The national client I spend most of my time working for keeps hinting at switching to REVIT, so I may be in a similar boat soon. Autodesk's other 3d program Architecural Desktop (ADT) has grown up a lot in the past 5 years. Its still an adolescent though, so we mainly draw in 2d as a rule. Recently I edited/ "value engineered' a very complex building that somebody else had originally drawn in ADT and that was a major pain in my ass. Hopefully in a few more releases the program will be much better, but that is what I say every release.
Now that I got my company to send me to AU once, I'm going to try and go every year. Camel, nose, tent. It's actually pretty cheap if you get in on the early bird rate. $1500 includes 4 days of classes, meals, 1 show, and hotel stay. i bought my wife a plane ticket on my own dime, because she was wanting some vacation time, so she will spend her days shopping with the other CAD widows or if she gets desperate enough visiting some family in Harrison. The shopping part might be where this trip gets expensive, yikes.
last year they held AU in Orlando, but I think they mostly like to stick to Vegas because of the number of people attending. I think there is close to 5000 people already registered which is more than attended last year.
