Geek Speak » in reply to Does it do the same using different browsers?

I never had the problem with Internet Explorer

or with Firefox. But the former no longer works on my machine, and the latter was incompatible with my antivirus. My wife doesn't let me go anywhere near her machine. But I finally found a work-around on mine when using Chrome.

I single-click to open Thread headers, and double-click to open the individual Comments. I shit you not, it solves the problem--every time. Why this should make any difference (especially since it is intermittent, and only started doing it a few days ago)is a puzzlement.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

The Inca and the Roman physicians used to carry out complex battlefield surgery and trepanning even though they had only the vaguest idea of physiology and anatomy--and they supplemented their medical knowledge with charms, spells and prayers.

I wonder if our modern day Geek squads don't operate in pretty much the same way--with intuition and clairvoyance. They like to dazzle us with their knowledge and experience, but I suspect its mostly trial and error.
