Back in the early 70s the Australian PM Edward Gough Whitlam was up for re-election. At a public rally he was hectored by an interjector: "What's your policy on abortion? C'mon Gough, don't be shy, what are you hiding here, what do you have to say about abortion then?"

Whitlam: "In your case it ought to be retrospective"
