Just my own observation. And for the record the release from school, during the school day means these kids miss a class and have to make up a class during summer school - which means more teachers, more hours, more tax dollars.
Not only that, but the during school release implies a tacit approval of interrupting schooling for religion. And what's more - parents are notified here that 18 absences by their child during a semester will set them in court and fined, possibly even jailed - even if the absences are medical related & excused.
The school just wants their per student, headcount money.
Yet here, the school district bends over backwards for other types of absences - since they will still get money for those kids.
That's messed up, and treating LDS families with preferential treatment.

- "Release time" religious instruction.
- There is no such thing as "religious instruction".
- I'm a little skeptical
