Funny how everyone thinks they are an expert at economics even though they know very little about it. You don't see the same thing in engineering, or brain surgery.
Foreign investment is a GOOD THING. Most nations do everything they can to encourage foreign investment because it brings capital into their nations. There a little thing called the multiplier effect, maybe you've heard of it? All that investment vastly increases the wealth of a nation far beyond it's actualy amount. A TRILLION dollars in investment, and people are complaining!? What's more, the investment is denominated in OUR OWN CURRENCY! Thus we ultimately control the true value of that debt.
America is an economic behemoth beyond the wildest dreams of every other nation on the planet. It's not a sham, it's the capitalist system within the borders of a huge nation with a wide range of strong economic sectors and natural economic endowments.
