re: "Carry our share?"

I think a pretty strong case sould be made that the US has forced itself into the role of world policeman. And not unwillingly.

What do Nordic state casualties have to do with anything?

But:

Canadian losses in WWII 42,000 out of a population of 11 million, or 0.38%

US losses in WWII 291,000 out of a population of 130 million, or 0.22%

Granted, the US was in the war for a shorter period of time, but on the other hand, most Canadian losses were after 1941.

Can I propose an alternate history in which the US entered the war in 1939 like everyone else, and the war ended in 1942 with far fewer Allied casualties?

Maybe the US medical costs are a result of a large number of slimy lawyers and bloated pharmaceutical companies sucking the system dry. Ever think of that?
