The point is that if you selectively choose your yardstick, everything looks like a yard. Globally, terrorism has skyrocketed and Al-Qaeda is healthier and more important than ever. You can't say 'mission accomplished, no new terrorist attacks in the US'- as even the neocons get: this is a global struggle.
