What might have changed in the election if this had been done a month ago?

Bush had some meetings this morning with Democrats and Republicans in the Congress. I suspect that the Democrats, and probably even some Republicans, stood up, looked Bush in the eye, and said "We'll back staying in Iraq. But on one condition..."

The Corner suspected earlier today that Rumsfeld's days were numbered.
