US customs
Veterans' Day appears to me, at least, to be less honored here than it is in Canada. We remember it, but the weather is dark and bleak, and the event behind it, the WWI Armistice, is of shadowy public memory here.
Our day is Memorial Day, in late May, which dates from the end of the Civil War. Many of the same customs attached to Armistice Day in other countries attach to Memorial Day in the US.
