Wouldn't VTOHL be better?
With vertical landing, enough fuel has to be carried for both launch and landing. That is not the case for horizontal landing. You would think that the weight and space saved on smaller fuel tanks and less fuel would be the best choice. My idea would be for a STTO vehicle with a shape similar to the Japanese HYFLEX concept.
