The chances are actually pretty good
These guys are very common, but really faint, and unless they have unusually high proper motions they may have just escaped notice. The "brown dwarfs" are even fainter, they were unknown until a few years ago, and no one really knows how many of them there are, percentagewise. No doubt this list will increase as more research is done.
