In a BBC story I saw, Putin mentioned all the usual diplomatic bullshit, we didnt do it-it's a tragedy-yaddayadda,but then he made an interesting statement. He said that it "wasn't a violent death".

AFAIC, this is an admission and a reminder to the Brits (another nuclear nation) that it was done with restraint. Oh, he ordered it all right...
