The mistake the anthropist scientist does is to take the problem from the end (the human existence) and from there, suggest everything that happened lead to us.....
But it's wrong.
Physical sciences rest on laws which rest either on more global laws or on chance which can stop deeper investigation of theories; however, science's fate is to dig deeper and deeper, as more questions are raised than answered. No law can be the ultimate one as its existence suggests a higher law or chance. For creationists, ID is the ultimate cause...because they refuse chance or fortuitous events.
Darwinism illustrates how chance can become the basis of a natural order which has nothing intelligent.
If a law existed, that necessarily lead to the emergence of man, that would mean man exists because of the will of a single free being reigning on the cosmos. This is unscientific.
Causality is what matters.
Incidentally, it's interesting to notice some language varations which are maybe more meaningful than we think:
Chance in english = hasard in french; hazard in english=péril in french ;
Chance in french = luck in english ....
