Current Events » in reply to Powell pushes for drawdown, says U.S. losing war in Iraq

Let's set aside the pointless statement that the U.S. should not have invaded in the first place.

Since Americans are there - now - why not discuss the fact that there seem to be two distinct groups fighting one another there.... if civil war is in fact what it is, then why not separate the two groups into two new countries, east and west....with one side populated ONLY with Sunnis and the other ONLY with Shia muslims. Weren't the borders of Iraq originally drawn by the British? Why not re-draw them in a more equitable manner, each with separate sovereign borders, unique constitutions, and democratically-elected governments. International forces could draw a line down the middle, establish a buffer zone, and man it with peacekeepers for 10 years or so. Better yet, let them re-name their countries, not east & west, but different names altogether.
