Flame » in reply to How can a troop surge (from 130,000 to 180,000??) make any difference in Iraq???

Since the US can't "hold" the countryside, it makes no difference.

When the minute you turn your back, or the corner, or go to bed, the territory reverts to the guerillas, you cannot "win". It makes no difference how much you temporarily "hold".

Iraq is broken as a nation and as a state. The Iraqis don't like Americans, except for the Iraqis who are held in power by the US Army, can't be put back together by someone they hate.

Iran is the new superpower in the Middle East. As predicted by France and Germany.
