re: Missed the point.

A year ago, the International Monetary Fund said Iran had the highest rate of brain drain of 90 countries it measured.

"We work from morning till night and still we cannot live off the money we make but over there we can have a better life with less hours of work," said Shabanzade, a hairdresser in Tehran who wants to emigrate.

Of course it's good that some Iranians are allowed to leave their country- compared to N korea or Cuba, Iran is paradise.

I think a very good and simple way to measure a country is number people who want to leave AND more importantly the number of people who want to come to live in a country.

Another point which related to this, is idea of overpopulation being a problem- for the most part this decades [even centuries] old ideology is dead wrong. I think America would be far better off if it increased it's emigration quotos significantly- but we also need to get rid most the false ideas associated with "multiculturalism".
Increasing quotas now would also be good idea considering that our current unemployment is at all time low. It also would to the advantage of the Dems to push this in the form of passing significant federal laws which improve the efficency and the number of emigrants [it won't be easy but if done right will serve the interests of Dem party for decades].
