"US troops don't kill innocent citizens."

They do. By the thousand. In Vietnam, generals said, "Every dead Vietnamese is Viet Cong."

My Lai was unusual only in it's size, and that the whistle got blown so hard someone had to listen.

In Iraq every dead Iraqi is an "insurgent". Men, women and children.

How you can be so naive as to say "US troops don't kill innocent citizens" is beyond me. When agitated or feeling threatened, US troops kill everyone they can see. They are no different than anyone else in that regard. AND they are operating in a civilian environment. Read about the checkpoint massacres. Kids, scared. They are not really at fault in most cases. There are war crimes without war criminals, except for the leaders. They are the war criminals. Saddam was hung for what underlings did.

Migawd, man. War is a very, very dirty thing, and it contaminates everyone who comes into contact with it. It's not the John Wayne movies you guys would like to think it is. It is so corrosive that it takes time to see that it ate away your soul even if it left the body.
