In college I knew a woman in training to be on the shuttle

She was a black belt in karate- so I don't dare call her a 'girl'- she did the training while working on a physics PhD... many may disagree, but getting a PhD in physics often takes more work than having a family...

I guess she didnt get to be an astronaut, since I never saw her on a mission.... but its got to be cool to have been in the running...
