I can only imagine the physical and mental stress involved with astronaut training and mission deployment. Her STS flight was the ‘return to flight’ mission and she was said to be one of the best with her remote arm skills.
Astronauts can a do become depressed along with family members due to astronauts’ rigorous duties. Unfortunate that this has occurred to the extreme with Lisa affecting the close relationship of the entire NASA astronaut family and personal family members.

Interesting that Lisa Nowak helped Jonathan Clark the husband of Laurel Clark who died in the Columbia tragedy with finalizing all the paper work and caring for the Clark’s son.

NASA has put Lisa on 30 leave, taken of flight status and all mission related activities. You can bet this will change for the worse in time along with her status with the Navy.

NASA will likely have to change their evaluation on mental/emotional issues of personnel.
I wonder if this will change the thinking of teams on extended missions like a mission to Mars.
