You know I was against this idiocy from the very start. But I think the stakes are too high to pull out. As Goes Iraq, so Goes the Middle East. If we pull out, look for a genocidal civil war fueled by every other major power in the region. What starts as a Proxy War between those powers could extend into a general regional shooting war akin to WWI- and just as with WWI, I don't think you can count on the participants to act in their best self interests and avert a disaster. Since the entire developed and developing world is dependent on Middle East oil for the very fuel of their civilizations, I don't see how such a conflict wouldn't spread beyond the region.
I say go all-in. As a nation, we will not come out on top of such a global or even regional conflict. We won't end up with a peacful iraqi democracy- that was never in the cards, but we can keep the lid on a humanitarion and possible global catastrophe.
