re: Just how full of opportunity is the Moon?

"Nothing he wrote is outright wrong."

Oh, thanks. I was curious whether you agreed with what he was saying or whether you were posting it as something you considered outlandish.

So you agree that:
"If humans eventually travel to Mars, technology that would be used will be far advanced over that which NASA would employ on the Moon in the next twenty years."
And:
"Costly and risky human exploration of Mars may never be needed."
And:
"The need to establish human settlements on Mars in the future is problematic."

Personally I think that humans will travel to Mars, and the technology will not be far advanced over that which NASA would employ on the Moon. I think that after further technological advancement is achieved from Lunar manned missions, that it will be quite challenging to successful do a Manned Mars, but probably be within our ability.
That manned Mars leading human colonies is needed and is something worth spending hundreds of billions dollars of tax payer money on.
And obviously, that establishing human settlement on Mars is something which essential in our future.

So, we disagree.

Btw when did you change your mind about the importance of Manned Mars and come to conclusion that it was currently infeasible.
