I think we don't know enough about how the earth regulates climate to even consider the possibility of engineering it for ourselves. Any efforts to mitigate the results of our own meddling might just make things worse. One thing we do know for sure, our ability to provoke climate change exceeds our ability to predict what it will be. Our major concern should be with limiting the effects of our own impact, reducing our footprint on the environment, if you like. As much as possible, we should try to keep our activities as low-profile as possible and to not become addicted to behavior with potentially dangerous or irreversible consequences. Trying to set into motion counter-processes at the last minute may do nothing, or even aggravate the situation.
It may be necessary some day, whether as a result of our own activities, or perhaps from purely natural processes, to intervene in the climate machine to mitigate or reverse a catastrophic excursion. This is a risky strategy and should only be undertaken as a last resort. Let's hope we are never forced to make that decision, but if we are, let's pray we have thought about it sufficiently to get it right.
