Hope everyone caught Earth Storm on the SciFi channel

Big asteroid hits the Moon and creates a fault that threatens to split the Moon and send a chunk hurtling to Earth. Meanwhile we are getting bombarded by debris, tidal waves, hurricanes and an oncoming new ice age. All of this happens about a week after the moon is hit. Of course none of this is going to matter if half of the moon comes down on us.

We solve the problem by sending the space shuttle, newly equipped with nuclear pulse engines to the moon to set off a magnetic charge cobbled together from a nuke bomb. (We obviously have also discovered artificial grav since every one was walking around on the shuttle at a comfortable 1 G.) With the new engines we manage to arrive at the moon in a couple of hours while dodging meteor swarms all the way.

The mag charge goes off nicely and the fault immediatelt closes and the Earth is saved.

I am sure any of you that missed this hard scifi thriller will want to be on the look out for a repeat, especially R.L.
