That'd sorta be like drilling very small holes into a keg o' beer, which results in beer all over the place.
The main magma chamber is ~ 15 km deep. That's around 49,000 feet. That's pretty darn deep for drilling. (I'd have to check, but that is about the deepest a hole has ever been drilled).
If such a project was undertaken, who knows if that wouldn't result in an eruption? Recently, in Java, a hole was drilled through water saturated sediment at depth. The whole was not properly cased, resulting in a "mud volcano". The over-pressurized water saturated sediment is still oozing out of the hole, a very muddy artesian spring. The mud covers acres now and efforts are underway to try to stop the flow, but it is not easy. I'll have to find some links for you...it is an interesting story.

- Yeah,,, What happens to use when we start forcing CO2 emmitting corporations into sequestering CO2 in underground caverns?
- A great excuse for unrestricted logging in the Park.
