The choice of words is a very important matter! Sometimes, it's better not to say too much. I see that every day in my job at the insurance company. Plus the added difficulty in translated texts.
Words are also used to help defining the way we'd reply.
For instance, claiming 9-11 was an act of war (instead of terrorism) helped in retaliating with troops, planes and traditional world war 2 style weapons.
This also means sending badly trained soldiers to a country where they don't understand the locals, with all the consequences.
Calling it a war on terror when we now see (and the left knew it before it even began) it can't actually be won the way it was initiated, should make americans realize they were fooled by their president.
He is the one responsible for the current humiliation endured by the US.
Is it acceptable politically to wage a never ending war?
If the only victims are soldiers, will there be enough of them through time when veterans come back and tell their story?
Current Events » in reply to "Pentagon: 'Civil war' inadequate term for Iraq war." And how 'bout 'quagmire'?
