I don't do this kind of thing, but my wife and kids do using IPods, Itunes, and all that copyrighted crap. They stick a CD into the computer, and it politely asks if they want to load it into Itunes. If they do, the next time the IPod is hooked up, they synchronize.

If, as I assume, you are using different hardware, did the MP3 player come with some version of a music handling program for the PC?
