I'm the kind of guy who only cares about two things when he buys a pair of sunglasses.
1) They have to be polaroids so I can see through the glare on the water to below the surface.
2) They have to be really cheap since I lose or damage my shades so often that I have to buy two or three pair at a time.
As for "active sports wear", I just put on my old dress clothes when they get too shabby to wear to work but still have plenty of life left in them.
Buying expensive sunglasses makes no sense at all. A few years ago, my wife and I threw a "cheap sunglasses" themed party (nod to ZZ Top). My wife's rich aunt was invited but she called back and complained that she didn't own any cheap sunglasses. Sandy answered back "No problem, just get a pair of your regular sunglasses and glue some rhinestones on them."
We never hear from her any more.

I probably just didn't care.
