Fun with Turbo Tax
Nothing like going through the interview process to make you realize how stark, raving insane our current tax process is.
Among hundreds of odd and cryptic questions, the machine wants to know if I've received "Ottoman Turkish Empire settlement payments."
Looking up the actual form, I find this instruction:
Ottoman Turkish Empire Settlement Payments. Enter the amount of settlement payments an eligible taxpayer receives as a settlement for persecution by the regime that was in control of the Ottoman Turkish Empire from 1915 until 1923 in Column B.
