How, why the Iraqi war is lost, spun out of control.

"Iraqi, U.S. forces attacked with chlorine bombs, 15 suffer chlorine poisoning; also off-duty Iraqi police slay dozens of Sunnis."

In the first situation, Fallujah has been "taken" 2 1/2 times. Already. Prior to this incident. And as one letter home I read on Newsweek said from a fellow who was posted there in December, "They hate us."

In the second situation, highly "trained" Iraqi police go on a killing spree. Now how is peace possible when this occurs? Who in their right mind would trust a policeman over there?

"Meantime, police and hospital officials said off-duty Shiite policemen enraged by massive bombings in the northern town of Tal Afar went on a revenge spree against Sunni residents there on Wednesday, killing at least 45 men.

"The policemen began roaming the town’s Sunni neighborhoods on foot early in the morning, shooting at Sunni residents and homes."

"In 2006, President Bush held up Tal Afar as an example of progress being made in Iraq after U.S.-led forces freed it from al-Qaida in an offensive the previous year."

It's done. Time to retreat.
