I believe the Brits should be set free immediately and unconditionally. Period. And one can understand the Iranian behaviors a bit if one tracks the US war against Iran.
"American raid and arrests set scene for capture of marines." (These people have "disappeared" into the gulag. No information on them.)
"Iran accuses West for general's kidnap." Another guy who has "disappeared" into the gulag.
Iran to hit back at US ‘kidnaps’. (These folks have all "disappeared".)
"According to Iranian sources, several officers have been abducted in the past three months and the United States has drawn up a list of other targets to be seized with the aim of destabilising Tehran’s military command."
Given the US and CIA record, the Bush administrations disdain for the law, the US would be guilty of these until proven innocent. These just reek of the CIA and secret prisons.
One problem with disregarding international conventions is that other folks then feel freer to do so also.
