To attack Bush personally is just as bad as the quoted article, but to attack his politics is fair game. You will note that I have never attacked Bush personally, although I am opposed to his politics and his ideological inflexibility and tactical intransigence. And I loathe some of the men he's chosen to advise him. But I've commented several times I felt that his positions are motivated by a sincere desire to do the right thing--heaven help us all! I do feel he is a man of, at best, average intelligence, and relatively little complexity, subtlety or introspection, but that is not an attack on his character. I'm sure he would be a genial companion and probably a good neighbor. Compared to his father and brother, he is certainly the weakest intellect of the three. But I don't feel the same way about him as the average conservative feels about Clinton (either of them), Gore, Kerry, Pelosi, or for that matter, any liberal chosen at random out of the phone book.
