Hey, we're going to do some THINKING now!

Hope you're sitting down.

If you will notice other posts you made on this thread, you mentioned unnecessary destruction of innocent trucks. I believe the exact quote was "sounds more like an excuse to blow away pickup trucks indiscriminately." For the good guys, blowing away innocent trucks is supposed to be a BAD thing.

Therefore, a weapon-packing truck designed to look exactly like an innocent truck would, unless there was a very high level of evidence otherwise, be left alone by Coalition aircraft or other forces that did not want to chance destroying innocent vehicles.

If you look at the Q-ship concept, the idea in that case was to create an innocent looking cargo ship designed to attract submarines and other predators that had the mission of destroying harmless cargo vessels.

If I haven't lost you yet, you will notice that the Q-ship is the exact inverse of the gun truck situation.

If we had in fact decided to destroy all the trucks, innocent or otherwise, we would have lost no helicopters. I suspect that if a trick like this had been tried during WWII, that's exactly what would have been done. But that's not how we're fighting this war.

As with weapons caches in mosques and schools, bombs disguised as taxis or ambulances, death cars allowed to pass because children are in the back, and suicide bombers and terrorists in civilian clothes, the truck gambit works precisely because our side is not barbaric.
