If I quoted Baghdad statistics and event trends here, you would discard them because they come from "tainted" sources, i.e. any place that doesn't fit your world picture.
This bombing, an isolated event, was designed by al Qaeda to targeting the "useful idiots" who would seize on it. This was a specific shot at the reporters there--not to kill them, but to get them to write the stories al Qaeda wants them to write. This bombing is going to be on video, and they know it. To my knowledge, the last successful bombing in the Green Zone was in 2004. Everything else has been random mortar attacks from outside.
Al Qaeda is currently getting its ass kicked in Anbar and the northeast. Most of its lethal attacks have been on Sunnis who are going along with the Iraqi government. A major insurgent group just split off from them and declared war on the terrorists. Read that in MSNBC or the BBC?
