About 15 years ago I was going with an amazing woman. Unfortunately she was 20 years younger than I and wanted to get married and have kids. I didn't. She was already making 5 times as much as I ever had, came from a large family of high achievers. They all felt sorry for her youngest brother, a Naval Academy graduate who was sitting around flying jets, not accomplishing squat. Mommy was about 2 years older than I and an attorney. She, frankly, terrified me. Daddy was 4 years older and with Mommy owned a very large civil engineering firm.

Anyway, she was already a senior vice president of a financial services firm. I remember her calling me one night and we talked for a couple of hours. I finally asked where she was, and she was staying in the World Trade Center. Another time she called from Tokyo. I knew she was there, but I didn't expect a call. She had read a book about internal power in corporations, it's acquisition and uses. The examples in the books were called "Big Swinging Dicks".

She aspired to be a "Big Swinging Dick". She took some time out to get married to someone else, and is now running a medium-sized company.

Helluva lady.
