Don't give up just yet...
Reid is starting to slip a cog. People who have no other fixed principles other than "what do I need voters to think I believe today?" end up incoherent quite quickly. At some point, the party is going to muzzle him.
Here's Reid firmly in the zone...Petraeus is only credible when says something Reid wants to hear. Why listen to the general when Reid has his mind made up? Other Democratic leaders have also been amazingly uninterested in Petraeus' briefings.
They don't actually care what's happening in Iraq, and progress would be their worst nightmare.
This isn't about Iraq for them, and never was.
