You're giving the party too much credit for actually having a policy.

Right now the leadership is going from moment to moment, like crossing a river on ice floes. They have no solid foundation of principle or policy, just "what do the voters want to hear today?"

Reid is flailing, with Pelosi not far behind, and people out there are having a lot of fun with it.
